Maupin Oregon in October. Three days of riding, 90 miles, lots of climbing and fantastic downhills. Plus great friends, food and scenery.
Adventures on two wheels
or sometimes two feet, or four tires, or maybe even a boat . . .

Rest day Thursday
Twin Falls and the area of the ride has had over three inches of rain in the last couple if days. Unheard of this time of year. Needless to say the ride has been rather wet. Today is a layover day in Hailey with a trip to Sun Valley and Ketcham. Thankful today for laundromats, sheets and pillows.

Rain
Day 1 of the ride was 83 miles from twin falls Idaho to castle rock nature reserve. Day 2 gave us a chance to explore the area and spend time at the local hot springs. Got in 11 miles of riding. Just enough to give the butt a rest. Day 3 wasn't first century. 100 miles on the bike from castle rock to Shoshone. Rain, rain and more rain but I think I'd rather have the rain than 100 degree temperatures. I'm thankful for Peter reserving the yurt. We stayed dry at night. And for Dorothy the volunteer who gave us her Prius to drive to and from the yurt each night and morning. She's an angel. And the mechanic who's name escapes me now but who was right behind me when I got a flat and he changed it in less than five minutes! I didn't have to get greasy at all! Day four on to hailey with probably more rain. So looking forward to the hotel room I reserved two months ago!

Too many shoes
This is what the folks in Marsing do with their old horseshoes. Seen along Chicken Dinner Road just south of Drumstick Road!
On the road to Ride Idaho 2014
330+ miles Friday in Mr. B pulling the little Casita. Our home away from home was farewell bend campground on the Snake River where the Oregon trail crosses from Idaho. Today we head to Twin Falls for the start of 400 miles of peddling over 7 days. Lots of wide open land and time to ponder all of life's questions. Hard to imagine settlers and wagon trains crossing this landscape here. Makes me grateful for the comforts of the Casita and good friends.

Full disclosure
We don't always rough it every day of the ride. Our layover day in Philipsburg allowed us to rent a house with beds and sheets and a toilet that flushes! We had a fantastic pasta dinner and dessert and spent Thursday wandering the small town and checking out the cute shops. Anything but sitting on a bike seat. Back at it on Friday for two more days back to Missoula.
